The Whatley Center at Northeast Texas Community College will host a concert by Travis LeDoyt, who has been called ?the world?s best tribute to young Elvis,? Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students and are available for purchase online at www.whatleycenter.com. The performance is sponsored by Texas Heritage National Bank.

LeDoyt gained his unofficial reputation as the best young Elvis because of his uncanny resemblance to The King ? both in looks and in sound.

?I had the privilege of watching Mr. LeDoyt perform at a conference and I knew we had to invite him to the Whatley. It really is like going back in time to watch a young Elvis Presley sing all of your favorite songs,? Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said.

LeDoyt first performed as Elvis for a school talent show. As he continued to take on the role more often, response became overwhelming.

?I never really got into this thinking I looked or sounded like Elvis and, to be honest, a lot of this just seemed to come natural to me. I practiced up some moves and performed at the talent show and the response was unbelievable. People started asking me to sing at various local functions, so I put together a band and started doing local events,? LeDoyt said in his Facebook bio.

As he continued to perform, he met various legends in the music business and was asked to pose as Elvis in Sam Phillips? offices in Memphis for a New York Times article. Since then he has traveled all over the world performing as Elvis in a variety of venues.
