Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of Northeast Texas Community College, will host†An Evening with Thornton Wilder†March 1-4 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. March 1-3 and a 2:05 p.m. matinee will be held on March 4. The performances will include two one-act plays by the acclaimed writer Thornton Wilder ?†A Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden†and†Childhood.

Called mini-masterpieces, Wilder experiments with techniques and dramatic forms that he would later develop in his celebrated full-length works†Our Town,†The Matchmaker†and†The Skin of Our Teeth.† In both intimate plays, Wilder focuses on the family dynamic, the difficulties of growing up and the eternal bond between parents and their children.

Performed ?in the round? on the Whatley Center?s main stage, both plays will provide a gentle, life-affirming evening of theatre. The cast includes Elizabeth Taraba, Benjamin Ruland, Alyssa Saunders, Chad Kennedy and Destiny Holmes of Pittsburg; Francisco Arroyo of Chapel Hill; Alyson Cortez of Mount Pleasant and Keli Rymer of Lago Vista.

Seating is very limited and reservations are recommended by calling 903-434-8181. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for students, $5 for NTCC Faculty and Staff and Senior Citizens and free for NTCC students with ID.
