This past weekend, the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles softball team traveled to Beaumont for the Cross-Over Tournament. The Eagles faced six teams in the tourney, but only walked away with one win.
Northeast played Coastal Bend for the first game of the tournament. Eagles? pitcher Aileen Robles led the team with three hits and four RBI.
After two outs in the bottom of the first inning, Robles helped the Eagles snag an early lead with a three-run home run, scoring Emily Burogs and Nadia Ballarin.
Burogs opened up the bottom of the fourth inning with a homer of her own and Robles followed suit in the sixth.
Coastal Bend picked up their final run after an error by Daniela Azuaje in the top of the seventh.
Robles got it done for the Eagles on the mound. She pitched seven innings, allowed two runs, one hit, struck out four and walked one.
The Eagles will travel to Athens for a doubleheader against Trinity Valley on Mar. 3.
