The Probation Officers of the 76th and 276th Judicial District Adult Probation Department (Morris, Camp and Titus Counties) have all qualified at Northeast Texas Community College with TCLEOSE firearms training and are now permitted to carry firearms in the discharge of their duties. Local judges and law enforcement have backed the decision by Director John Kelley to allow Probation Officers to carry firearms to enhance courthouse security as well as officer's security in the field.††The training was the first of its kind at NTCC and was organized and conducted by Richard Jones, Boake Slape and Leonard Newman at the Criminal Justice Center. Pictured are those who participated in the training (from left): Carmelia Rockwell from Titus County, Gilbert Olivarez from Titus County, Rance Hockaday from Titus County, John Kelley, Shane Winn from Titus County, Frankie Thomas from Morris County, Patricia Mathis from Camp County, James Hobbs from Camp County, and Susan Barger from Morris County.
