Pilgrim's recently gave Communities in Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas †$1,000 to purchase school supplies. Pictured making the donation to Melody Henry (left),†Executive Director of CIS, is Joni Worrell (center), Pilgrim's HR Supervisor, and Jennifer Bilbrey (right), HR Supervisor Pilgrim's Mount Pleasant Complex. The school supplies †will be used to benefit area at-risk students.
†The mission of CIS is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.†CIS works within the public school system, determining student needs and establishing relationships with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources. CIS is funded in part through the Texas Education Agency but depends on local donations to reach the high number of at risk students in our local area. When students stay in school, the whole community benefits so please consider donating to CIS. For more information about CIS, call 903-434-8212.
