Northeast Texas Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter received the college’s first-ever Humanities Texas grant, a state subsidiary of the National Endowment of the Humanities. The $2,000 grant will be used to create a mini-documentary about folklore specific to the northeastern Texas region.
All of us at Northeast Texas Community College are deeply saddened by the loss of Chuck and Sarah Johns last week. Mr. Johns began serving on the NTCC Board of Trustees in 1996 and he has been a faithful member since then. He was elected Chairman of the Board in 2020 and remained in that role until his passing. He was an active member of the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) and worked at the state level to advocate for NTCC.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a check for $18,074 from Jerry Hearron on behalf of the Mount Pleasant Community Fund. The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and English Language programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration beginning January 21, 2025. While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.
NTCC extends its sincerest condolences to the family of Sid Greer, who passed away on December 26th, 2024.
Mr. Greer served on the NTCC Board of Trustees faithfully for 23 years. During that time he served as Board Secretary for 12 years.
