The Northeast Texas Community College CARE Center recently learned that it received a $3,000 grant from Swipe Out Hunger – the leading national nonprofit working to end college student food insecurity. NTCC was one of 102 colleges that received more than $420,000 in grants for their campuses. NTCC Nursing students, including LVN and RN levels 2 and 4, shared fellowship with the Titus Regional Medical Center staff through educating the community about heart health issues. They were led by Tim Elmore and Beverly Price. TRMC hosted its annual React Quicker, Save Your Ticker heart health fair on Saturday, February 17, offering free and low-cost testing, education at community-led booths, and guests received free health screenings and hands only CPR training.

Northeast Texas Community College is excited to announce that it has won a 2024 national Bellwether Award for its innovative Work4College program. NTCC received the Best In Showcase Award at the 2024 Community College Futures Assembly in San Antonio this week in the category of Planning, Governance and Finance.  The Bellwether competition is the most prestigious competition for community colleges and recognizes cutting-edge, trendsetting programs worthy of replication among the more than 1,000 community colleges across the nation.

Neida Perez

In a close vote last summer, State of Texas Webb Society sponsors, and editors of the collegiate journal, Touchstone, elected Neida Perez of NTCC. She was thus chosen to represent the upper-division of in giving a featured presentation at the spring 2024 meeting of the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) at College Station. By “upper-division” the educational wing of the TSHA means students having more than 60 hours. Perez thus will represent a division normally represented by a junior or senior university student in Texas.
