I was not sure if I would be comfortable tutoring students who, in many cases, were the same age as my mom.
I was not sure if I would be comfortable tutoring students who, in many cases, were the same age as my mom. However, once I got started I realized this was something I love. God gave me a gift of understanding math and science, and I feel blessed to be in the Work Scholarship Program where I have an opportunity of giving back.
Cross started in the Work Scholarship Program during the summer of 2015. Because of his success in last year’s program, this summer he was recommended for and accepted in an internship Program that NTCC recently partnered with Priefert Manufacturing to offer.
Priefert has been looking for a way to “grow their own” employees. And through the new partnership, NTCC helps to try and identify potential “future” employees. Priefert then interviews and selects a certain number of these for their paid internship program. Priefert follows up a successful internship experience by providing scholarships to the students who would like to choose this field of work as their career.
“I worked in the engineering department at Priefert all summer long and now I am about to leave for college in Louisiana to begin working on an engineering degree. My goal is to finish my degree in four years and come back HOME where I can have a great career. The Work Scholarship Program along with the internship Program at Priefert has offered me a way to achieve my goal!”
