Eagle Baseball players receive All Conference Team Honors

The Northeast Texas Community College Baseball team is rolling into the Regional Tournament this week with several accolades for the members of the Eagle Baseball team.

Sophomore Carson Lorch from Cypress, Texas made the First team All-Conference at second base. Lorch had a .332 batting average on the season with 61 hits, 18 doubles, 2 triples and 6 homeruns on the year. He was walked 39 times and hit by the pitch 14 times. The speedy Lorch added 21 stolen bases while only being caught four times on the season. Carson will be playing for Tarleton State University next year. 

Freshmen Ayden Terry from Lavon, Texas was First team All-Conference as a first baseman. Terry batted .261 with 38 Runs Batted In (RBI) and scored 32 runs to help the Eagles offensively. Like Lorch, Terry found his way on base a lot, being walked 33 times and hit five times on the year. Terry had a .970 fielding percentage on the season as well as saw some action on the mound for the Eagles.

Sophomore Barron Sawyer, Abbeville, Louisiana, was First team as a starting pitcher. Barron went 6-2 on the season with a 3.56 Earned Run Average (ERA) with 48 innings pitched. Sawyer averages 12.5 strikeouts per game and held opponents to a .153 batting average against him. 

Freshmen JJ Rickert, Mansfield, Texas, was selected to the first team as a relief pitcher for the Eagles. The right hander was 3-2 with 3 saves and 20 strikeouts in just over 28 innings of work. 

Luke Regas, Freshmen from Waxahachie, Texas was selected to the second team as catcher. Regas saw action in fifty games this season, batting .313 with 26 RBI’s. Luke had two homeruns on the year with thirteen doubles to his name as well.

Sophomore Dalton Hill, Minden, Louisiana, was also selected to the second team for the Eagles as a starting pitcher. Hill, who plans to move on to Nicholls State next season, was 5-4 in twelve starts for the Eagles and struck out 55 batters on the season. Opposing teams had a .228 batting average against Hill this season. 

Rounding out the All-Conference honors was Jonathan Gonzales, Austin, Texas, who was selected as Honorable Mention Designated Hitter. Gonzales would mainly see action as the DH this season, but spent time on First base and pitching for the Eagles. Jonathan had a .321 batting average with 10 doubles on the season. 

The Eagles will begin post season play Thursday, May 9th at 10:00am when they take on San Jacinto College in Corsicana as Navarro College host the double elimination Regional tournament.
