ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

What is the Test of Essential Academic Skills?

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS) is a four part, web-based, supervised assessment that includes subtest in Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English language usage. The ATI TEAS Test was developed by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) to predict the academic readiness of applicants prior to admission into a healthcare program. There are 170 questions in total on the test.

The total testing time for all four test areas is 3 hours and 29 minutes. Most of the subtests are timed to average 75 seconds per item. The amount of time allotted for each subtest is:

  • Reading = 64 minutes for 53 questions - section includes questions regarding paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions
  • Mathematics = 54 minutes for 36 questions - section includes questions regarding whole numbers, metric conversions, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion
  • Science = 63 minutes for 53 questions - section includes questions regarding human anatomy and physiology, life and physical sciences, and scientific reasoning
  • English and Language Usage = 28 minutes for 28 questions - section includes questions regarding punctuation, grammar, sentence structure contextual words, and spelling

The ATI TEAS is a computer based test, requiring only that you are able to point with a mouse and select the answer. Scoring is automatic; you will receive your score when you have finished the test.

The  ATI TEAS  is available by appointment only.  You will not be tested on a walk-in or stand-by basis under any circumstances.  Appointments can be made by calling the Testing Center.
