Melissa grew up in Missouri before moving to Kansas to start a profession in higher education. In May of 2015, after 10 years of working at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, KS, Melissa and her husband relocated to Mount Pleasant, TX. Melissa was given the opportunity to be the Coordinator of the Community College Transfer Center at Texas A&M University-Texarkana before accepting a position of Advisor/Recruiter at Northeast Texas Community College. In January, 2017, Melissa was moved into the Directors role. Melissa has a passion to help students reach their educational goals.
Melissa is married to Steven Harrison who is the Menâ€™s Soccer Coach at Northeast.

Daisy Bates has been an employee at Northeast Texas Community College since 2007. She received her Associate of Science degree from Northeast Texas Community College in 2006, went on to pursue her BAAS degree from Texas A&M Texarkana and Masters of Science in Higher Education with an emphasis in online teaching from Kaplan University. Daisy is an academic advisor for all students but she specializes in Veterans Affairs being the liaison between the college, veteran students, and the educational department of Veterans Affairs. She came to NTCC as a qualified experienced educator with 11 years of experience in the field of education being dedicated to student success. Daisy is adept at assessing needs, generating options, implementing solutions in collaboration with students and with various departments. Daisy has the ability to analyze data; accommodate studentsâ€™ educational needs in order to achieve academic success and is experienced in managing projects, presenting materials, teaching/advising and motivating. Daisy's hobbies are: Singing, decorating, entertaining family and close friends, and collecting antiques.

John started working at Northeast in 2006 as an Associate Faculty member in the Psychology and Behavioral Sciences department. In August of 2014 John joined the Academic Advising team. . John is a graduate of Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Commerce (BS, MS/counseling), Perkins School of Theology at SMU (M.Div.), and recently added to his academic pursuits the study of the spread of narcissism in today's culture and the effects of living in what I call "The Age of Entitlement."
John has served served as Interim Chaplain at a Texarkana, TX. hospital and a hospice chaplain with an agency in Longview. Johns hobbies include photography, reading, and transferring his classic collection of albums and 45â€™s to digital archives. John has two grown children-- Lindsey Coleman Higgins and Jordan Coleman, both of whom live in Texarkana. Johnâ€™s grandson, Kaden Higgins, turned six-years-old last December. His little sister, Maryn Higgins, was born in October of 2016.

Shannin is an Advisor/Recruitment Specialist who graduated from Texas A&M University-Texarkana with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in December 2016. Shannin was an active member and officer (secretary) of the psychology club at A&M-Texarkana and worked in the admissions department where she focused specifically on transfer students. Before graduation, she relocated to Ashdown, Arkansas from Dallas, Texas where she graduated from high school in the top 10% of her class while participating in her high school band and softball team. In her spare time, Shannin enjoys spending with her family and friends and attending Spina Bifida Association of North Texas charity events with her daughter.
Along with recruiting and welcoming students to NTCC, Shannin is will help guide students to achieve their academic goals.

Nick is an Advisor / Recruiter for NTCC who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2011. He is currently working on his Master of Business Administration degree through Texas A&M University - Texarkana. He also attended NTCC as a dual credit student during high school until he graduated in the top 10% from Pittsburg High School in 2008. After graduating from UT, he moved back to his hometown to work for his father and brother in law, before he started working for NTCC in January 2015. He worked in the Financial Aid Department as a Student Support Specialist, before moving to Advising in April 2016. In addition to recruiting, his duties include advising all NTCC students, but specializes in advising Health Science students

Jimmy attended Northeast Texas Community College from 2011-2013. Jimmy feels Northeast opened many doors, and provided him with many opportunities to develop. After graduating from Northeast; Jimmy attended Texas A&M University-Commerce where he received a Bachelorâ€™s in Marketing. Jimmy is thrilled with the opportunity to work at the place that helped mature him. He says it feels good to be HOME.
